Designed to address the growing demands in high pressure applications Encole developed sight glasses in NPT thread fittings using C-axis sapphire. Optical surface finish is S-D 60-40, excellent for imaging systems, no birefringence (along the C-axis) at pressure.

Largest viewing aperture to the overall size ratio

Aperture diameter is rather large for the given NPT size fitting. Encole optimized the wall thicknesses using FEA and hydrostatic pressure testing. During the test the manifold started to un-tread itself under high pressure. The video captured the moment, we posted it in the blog.
