Modification, Conflat Flange, Brazed Sight Glass

Small size Conflat flange needs to fit into a tight space. Part of the metal flange is cut off. Notice the clean edges chamfered after the cut. This is important for this application because all surfaces have to be as smooth as possible to avoid trapping particles. The window is made from borosilicate, silver-brazed into a tertiary sleeve (Kovar) which is orbital welded into a 304 stainless steel flange.
